Fighting

Fighting games on the original Xbox delivered fast-paced, competitive combat experiences, focusing on one on one battles between characters with unique moves and abilities. Popular titles like "Dead or Alive 3" and "Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance" highlighted the genre’s appeal, offering fluid animations, diverse character rosters, and intricate combat mechanics. These games required players to master combos, counters, and special attacks, emphasizing skill and timing.

The Xbox's hardware allowed for smooth gameplay and visually impressive graphics, making each fight feel intense and engaging. Local multiplayer modes, and in some cases online play via Xbox Live, enhanced the competitive nature of fighting games, enabling players to challenge friends or opponents worldwide. The genre remained a favorite among gamers who enjoyed testing their reflexes and strategies, contributing to the Xbox's diverse gaming library and offering memorable, action packed experiences with a focus on mastery and competition.

The answer is not clear, but that is where you come in. Assuming the role of 10 unique combatants, it is your duty to defeat the monstrous soul and finally give a happy ending to this sad, twisted story.

Bloody Roar Primal Fury

Game Overview

Bloody Roar Primal Fury. Each character has a set of moves spread across a punch, kick, beast and block button, which is also used for throws. Special moves are primarily performed using quarter circle or half circle motions and a face button, though several exceptions exist. Attacks can be blocked with either a light guard, performed by not pressing forward or backward, or a heavy guard by holding back or the block button. Various attacks in the game can break through and stagger opponents using a light block. Various characters also have light block counters, which work against certain high or mid level punches and kicks. Players start each fight with a full life bar and a Beast Gauge, which allows them to transform into a stronger half animal fighter. This gauge fills as the player performs moves or gets attacked. It fills with either a blue bar, indicating the player cannot switch to beast form, or a yellow bar with the words "BEAST CHANGE!!" appearing above it, meaning the player can transform. While in beast form, both the life bar and the Beast Gauge deplete. An emptied life bar results in a knockout, but emptying the Beast Gauge and knocking the opponent down reverts them to human form. Also, it reverts the Beast Gauge to the blue bar, preventing them from transforming again until it is refilled.

Capcom Fighting Evolution

Game Overview

Capcom Fighting Evolution features characters all taken from the rosters of Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Dark stalkers 3, as well as the single game Red Earth. There are four selectable characters representing each series, excluding original character Ingrid and the boss characters Pyron and Shin Akuma. Each character uses a fighting system from the game which determines the techniques they can use and their super move gauge. Ingrid uses her unique fighting style with her own techniques, for a total of six fighting styles. The game consists of two on two endurance style matches similar to that of Rival Schools: United by Fate. The player selects a pair of character and then begins a match with one character. In the Japanese version of the game, if their current character is defeated for one round, then the next round will begin with the other character. Capcom Fighting Evolution incorporates a variety of gameplay mechanics to cater to fans of multiple franchises. Each character retains unique attributes from their respective games, such as Dark stalkers' chain combos or Street Fighter III's parries. This creates a layered and intricate combat system where players must adapt to different styles and strategies. The game challenges players to master the nuances of each character, providing a rewarding experience for those who invest time in understanding the interplay of mechanics and tactics.

Capcom vs SNK 2 EO Mark of the Millennium 2001

Game Overview

Capcom vs. SNK 2 combines characters and gameplay elements from various Capcom and SNK fighting games, mainly the Street Fighter and The King of Fighters series. Other elements, most noticeably different fighting styles, incorporated elements from other games as well, such as Street Fighter III, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and the Samurai Shodown series. In contrast to the original Capcom vs. SNK, characters no longer have a specific "Ratio." Instead, the player can select up to three characters in a team and give an amount or ratio (up to four) to each as desired. In console versions of the game, players can also choose a 1-on-1 game or a 3-on-3 game in Arcade Mode with the Ratio System removed. Unlike the first game, which was based on The King of Fighters-style two-strength, four button system of punches and kicks, Capcom vs. SNK 2 is based on the three strength, six-button system of punches and kicks, native to the Street Fighter series, and the SNK characters have been tweaked to fit the 6-button style. The overall system is derivative of Street Fighter Alpha. However, a number of different fighting styles called 'Grooves', which mimic other Capcom and SNK games, are included in the engine. These dictate both the character's Super Gauge system, and special techniques, such as dashes, running, and guard cancels, called "Subsystems." There are six in total, each designated with a letter, along with custom grooves that can be programmed in home versions of the game. Each player designates prior to the match which groove his or her team will use.
